TuneCore Offering Music Publishing For Songwriters

TuneCore a successful digital distribution company is attempting to cut out the middle men for independent songwriters and artists.

Their service offers to register our songs with the respective performing rights organization, and then collect the publishers share for our songs and pay us.

This is potentially a major step forward for independent songwriters, artists, and bands in the new DIY music business...

I say potentially, because we'll see how it goes. It is still hot on the scene, however they're growth as a digital distribution platform indicates a successful track record.

How much are they charging?

Its a one time setup fee of $49.99, and it takes 10% of what it collects for you.

Currently this service is only available to artists and songwriters who currently use tunecore as their digital distribution service, but says it plans to open the service up to all rights holders in the near future.

We'll see how it goes, and i'll offer a comparison in the future between it and songtrust another independent minded songwriting publishing service launched in march 2011.
