Drill Down Deeper To Find Your Music Fan Base
As an indie artist or struggling musician you may find it difficult to juggle so many things and wear so many hats... It can feel as though you are spreading yourself to thin, and, while making a little progress on a lot of things are not mastering any of them.
This can happen with your music as well. But let me ask you... When you think of any influence of yours, or popular artist, don’t you immediately draw associations that instantly pop up in your mind?
Their is an almost instant categorizing and understanding about their style, and their music.
For songwriters and musicians the thought of being categorized is not one we welcome... At all...
It seems to go against our nature.
But the “best way to attract a loyal following faster is to specialize,” according Bob Baker. (the music marketer)
In a recent article, which can be found here, http://diymusician.cdbaby.com/2011/10/grow-your-music-fan-base-by-thinking-small/ he tells a story about Brad, an independent artist who loved to golf.
Brad finally broke through his threshold as a middle-of-the-road pop songwriter when he started narrow down and write songs about something he was passionate about... GOLF!
People responded positively, and he found his niche!
Some clever planning for the album launch at a country club and live performances at golf courses and country clubs in his region we’re well received, and he build his music fan base rapidly!
Good news is he can still write and perform his pop songs too, but he’s built an identity and a loyal following of a targeted group of fans.
What could you learn from this?
What could you implement?
Perhaps you too can drill down deeper to find your music fan base.
Have the best day you can have.
