Artist Development Goals

Its a powerful and valuable thing-in my experience to write your goals down. It is a much better method for getting somewhere, and a worthwhile exercise. In addition to my ongoing regiment, my artist development goals are focal points aimed at refining my talent and professional crafts as a singer songwriter producer.

I figured id post this up as a more of a "publicized" journal entry, and hopefully it will be useful to someone at some point in their development.

For the next phase in my artist development i aim to produce the following deliverables: Please note, some of the corny parts of my personal goals i've spared you from, and im not going to cover all the details, and all the backstory, purpose and visionary pieces of it. I am obviously not talking about the business end of things, the production planning, scheduling, packaging, and cd release. These are just the next steps in terms of talent and artist development goals on my musical progression.

Singer Songwriter Producer

Have written and completed at least 6 original songs, the best i can write, and 4 outstanding covers which i know and can perform to the highest im capable. I am able to bust any one of these 10 tunes out at anytime.

The 6 best songs will make up the EP, and core of the album. My objective with this album in particular is to tell my stories, nourish my soul, and develop my crafts to a professional level, while showcasing my flexibility, talent and style as a songwriter, vocalist, and artist.

Vocalist/Singing Goals

I will develop and distinguish my voice to the best of my ability.

I will have defined, developed and mastered my vocal range.

I will have properly developed the powerful vocal strength, ideal tonality, breath control, consistency, and maintenance of a world class vocalist in any environment.

I will have identified my strongest keys, octaves, and accompaniment combinations.

I will be able to sing anytime my voice is healthy and warmed up.

Guitar Goals

I will be able to improvise over any key. Naturally call out any chord and embellishment and consecutively move my hands to the right spot, and transition between any chord smoothly and in time.

I will be able to develop authentic, soulful, well-developed solos that proceed though all parts of an excellent melodic progression. Intro, motif, development, climax, resolution, ending, signature.

I will be able to run through every minor, major, chromatic, and blues scale, at combat speed, without mistake.

Regiment:

Voice - vocal exercises, reading aloud, and singing every day, 5 days a week.

Guitar - scales and a solo, everyday, 5x week.

Performance - work on one cover song a week, or till mastery.

Songwriting - write or produce 1 song a week.

Have the best day you can have!
